Setup Steps
DLH.io Setup Guide for Google Reviews
Connector Pre-Requisites
Connecting to Google Reviews, you need to make sure that you have:
- A Google Cloud API Key from a project with billing enabled, with both the Places API (New) and the Places API (Legacy) enabled. Google no longer lets new projects enable the Legacy API, so use a project that already has it. If the key has API restrictions, allow both APIs.
- The Search Query that finds your places on Google Maps, usually your business name, for example
Acme Services.
Instructions (Basic Connection Setup)
DLH.io connects to Google over secure channels using your API key. This connection is read only and never writes data back to Google.
Using the form please complete the following basic steps:
- Enter a Name or Alias for this connection, in the 'Name/Alias' field, that is unique from other connectors.
- Enter in the 'Target Schema Prefix' field, a name that will be unique in your data cloud destination database where you wish to land the data.
- Enter the API Key and the Search Query.
- Optionally enter Place Name Contains, for example
Acme, to keep only places whose Google name contains that text. Searches also return nearby businesses that match loosely. - Click Save & Test to validate the connection.
How Data Is Synchronized
Each run searches for your Search Query in every US state, then reads each place found once. Google returns at most the five newest reviews of a place, so schedule the connection daily or more often for busy places. See the main overview for details.
